The future of "smart" furniture: mit develops self assembled chairs

Can the furniture assemble itself? Right! You are not reading science fiction, you are looking at MIT's latest research results.

The Self-Assembly lab of MIT recently completed a magical experiment: they threw 6 white parts into a water tank and were affected by the current in the tank, which would rotate rapidly. 7 hours later, the parts found their place and formed a chair by connecting the magnets on the surface.

This video is only 1 minutes 17 seconds, but in fact the assembly process took 7 hours, the assembled chair's surface specifications are only 15cm X 15cm, far from the human hands to assemble efficient. But it's just the beginning, and it's likely to create a new way of building. This way can be "forever", only the natural forces, do not need outside the extra power, but also in accordance with the environment real-time self-regulation, assemble the best state, in the future will be in disaster relief, space and other scenes to play a role.

In fact, the Self-Assembly Lab lab last year also showed two other self-assembly experiments: a balloon that uses wind energy to assemble itself in the air, and a liquid crystal that is self assembled underwater.
