Wearable technology trader Misfit to launch development kits for third parties

Wearable technology developer Misfit has just announced the opening of its developer Toolkit (SDK) to Third-party developers to integrate Third-party software with Misfit's app and Shine fitness tracker. The "Science Library" also allows third parties to contact their patented activity and face tracking algorithms.

Misfit is a start-up company engaged in wearable equipment and application development, founded in 2011 by Apple's former CEO John Sculley. The misfit has had two rounds of financing, including the 15.2 million U.S. dollar, which was received by Li Ka-shing's deepwater ventures at the end of last year, with a total financing of $22.8 million trillion.

Its main product is the Shine Motion Tracker. This button-sized wearable device can be worn on the wrist or not in front of the chest to track and indicate the user's movement status. Its unique features are waterproof, and lasts up to 3-4 months.

But since then the company began to make a carrot and stick transformation, in addition to hardware, but also began to promote the patented sleep and motion tracking algorithm. This June, misfit and smart watch trader Pebble launched the first attempt of this transformation, combining the former's algorithm with the latter's hardware, and launched the Misfit Pebble App. At the time, the company said it wanted to open APIs to more partners. July Misfit and sleep tracker beddit cooperation, the determination of transition to the platform gradually emerged.

In Thursday, Misfit announced the launch of Misfit Developer Toolkit, a development toolkit that allows Third-party developers to integrate misfit activities and sleep-tracking capabilities into their applications, a major step towards Misfit's goal of a healthy platform.

The toolkit consists of three parts. The first is cloud storage API, which can provide storage interface for synchronizing misfit data between device and third party application; the second is Devices SDK, application developer can interact with misfit hardware, third is misfit Scientific Library (science Library), Both hardware manufacturers and software developers can use it to access misfit patented sensor algorithms.

At present, the application of cooperation with Misfit has Runkeeper, mapmyfitness and some large companies. Yesterday Misfit and Network service platform IFTTT reached a cooperative relationship. Tracking with Ifttt,shine will be more automated, for example, by automatically passing sleep logs to a cloud form.
