NBA star Carmelo Anthony enters the field of venture investment

There are more and more people crossing the border into the field of venture investment. U.S. NBA star Carmelo Anthony and former NBC executive Stuart Goldfarb co-founded the venture capital company M7 Tech.

M7 in the company's name represent Melo and seven, of which Melo is Anthony's nickname, and Seven is Anthony's jersey number. The company currently focuses on those early start-up companies, including digital media, consumer internet and technology start-ups.

The company's first project, Hullabalu, in New York, is a start-up for children to make a story-based tablet application. The company also invested in the co-founder of SV Angel and Reddit.

Anthony is not the only NBA star to enter the field of venture investment. Last September, Dallas Mavericks star Jamal Mashburn founded a tradition investment company. Steve Nash, the Los Angeles Lakers, founded a tradition in 2010.
