July 25 News, according to foreign media reports, News Corp will be set up 6 years of MySpace repositioned as entertainment site, transforming it into a more powerful online video game platform. Because MySpace users have been losing to Facebook. Jonathan Miller, News Corp's Digital Media division, said in Thursday that he wanted to develop a video gaming platform on Jonathan Miller social networking site MySpace. MySpace lags far behind Facebook in users. At the tech technology conference hosted by Fortune magazine, Miller said that MySpace's transformation into a gaming platform would bring business opportunities for vendors to put their products on MySpace and use their user data to better develop games. Comments have reservations about the development potential of MySpace's entertainment platform, as YouTube, Google's video-sharing site, dominates user-uploaded video, while Hulu dominates the field of professional video. The focus on developing video games will help MySpace regain its morale and compete with Facebook, which is breaking 200 million of the current number of users. According to comscore, the US internet traffic monitor, Facebook's only visitor (unique visitors) exceeded 307 million during April this year, with less than 123 million of MySpace's only visitors. Last month, Facebook surpassed its peak record of 76.3 million monthly online users in the US region, which MySpace set in October 2008. MySpace already has a site that allows users to use online games with their friends, while Facebook offers a number of casual games from Scrabble to chess. Miller says video games are an opportunity for both MySpace and News Corp. In 2005, News Corp bought myspace for 580 million dollars, a social networking site that was popular among young internet users. But since MySpace's users have been losing to Facebook and Twitter, News Corp has sacked MySpace co-founder and CEO Chris Deworf Chris DeWolfe and set up his own management team. To cut costs, MySpace has laid off more than 400 people in the US, cutting its workforce by 30%. Asked about the recent comments by Rupert Murdoch, the chief executive of News Corp, that MySpace should turn into an "entertainment portal," Miller said, "You have to take the Rupert, my focus is on music, games, video". Although MySpace will not simply be an entertainment site, entertainment will remain a key theme, Miller said. The game is ranked third in online activity, after communication and search. Obviously the game will be the main focus. Richard Greenfield, an analyst with Pali research at the US analytics agency, said in a report that MySpace could use video tours to make a greenfield.
