Nissan has invented a smart rearview mirror. The camera is mounted on the rear window of the car to display the real-time screen in the car's display.
Conventional rearview mirrors may be affected by rear-seat passengers, baggage or cars, while fixed cameras are unaffected by these factors. At the same time the driver can also get a 50-degree viewing angle, and the normal rearview mirror can only have a 18-degree view.
The camera installed on the rear window has 1.3 million pixels, and the display uses a custom LCD panel with a super widescreen 4:1. The display screen is provided with a button that allows brightness and zoom control.
In addition, Nissan uses image processing technology to enhance the brightness and sharpness of the rear-mounted camera's image under low-light conditions. If there is a bright headlight behind the driver, Nissan will use image processing technology to downplay and reduce glare to prevent motorists from causing traffic accidents due to glare.
At present, no other car makers have introduced similar products except Nissan. The smart rearview mirror will be listed in Japan later this year, including product and installation costs, priced at around 670 dollars.
