The move will strengthen Oracle's burgeoning marketing, analytics and customer service software for social networking sites.
The deal is expected to be completed in the next few months. The terms of the deal are not disclosed.
Involver is known for its SML (Social Markup Language) technology. This technology allows companies to develop highly customized marketing applications for social media sites and website marketing. Oracle says the company also has a tool set for mouse drag-and-drop design and many prefabricated applications that make it easier for social networking sites to communicate and spread more quickly.
Involver's ability will enhance Oracle's ability to acquire vitrue through the acquisition of social marketing companies. The deal to buy Vitrue was announced in May. These applications will become part of Oracle's broader suite of software, including Oracle's acquisition of customer service software from RightNow and the recent acquisition of social media monitoring tools from collective intellect.
Oracle will also use Involver technology for Oracle's recently launched cloud-based database and Java development services.
According to Involver's website, Involver was founded in 2007. There are currently more than 1 million brand manufacturers and organizations using their software. Involver's clients include Best Buy, Sony Pictures and coach.
