When do I use 301 redirects?

A temporary redirect is a server-side redirect that can be handled correctly by search engine spiders. The difference between 301 and 302 is that 302 redirects are temporary redirects, and search engines crawl new content and save old URLs. As the service goes to 302 code, the search engine thinks the new URL is only temporary. 301 redirects are permanent redirects, and search engines also exchange old URLs for redirected URLs as they crawl new content.
