While many have questioned the controversial decisions of Arnold Schwarzenegger over the years, no one can deny the extraordinary achievements of the 67-Year-old movie star, politician and former professional bodybuilder in his Arnold career. However, many people do not realize that Schwarzenegger is also a very successful businessman. In fact, Schwarzenegger had become a millionaire at the age of 22, and his Hollywood glory had not yet begun. A more than 20-year-old young entrepreneur, Schwarzenegger has carried out several successful business ventures and investments, including brick and real estate. At the University of Southern California commencement speech, Schwarzenegger shared six key secrets of success. The bold text below is the six guidelines proposed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, while the rest is my own understanding of these guidelines applied to the workplace. I have cited many examples of myself and my company, because I know they are the best. But I think that Arnold Schwarzenegger's guidelines can be adapted to almost anyone with any professional background. 1. Believe in yourself "the rule is to believe in yourself, regardless of what others think." "I can understand that. Early on, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I was sure I was passionate about things: I knew I liked computers and code, and I knew I wanted to start and run my own company. But I don't know how to put this together, but I just need to keep my passion on these things because they make me happy. Do the things that make you feel excited and happy, and believe that if you stick to it, you will eventually get a good return. At the same time, you have to understand, what kind of things can make you feel the time passing quickly, let you lift around the world almost disappear? Simply put, what kind of things do you like to do even if you die? 2. Breaking the Rules "on this earth, what kind of things you do after you will be liked by everyone, and you can avoid trouble?" The only way I know is to break some rules. "When it comes to breaking the rules," Schwarzenegger didn't say he could ignore the speed limit or keep the "I don't care what you think" attitude. He stressed that you have to know what you are doing, that you are right in your intuition and that you do not have to stick to it. This is absolutely true for business and the workplace. In your work, at the end of the day, you need to make some of the most sensible decisions for you. These decisions may not be popular or easy to make. In 2007, I pulled 21 people's companies out of 7 people specializing in 0 of the proceeds (later became HootSuite). The idea was inconsistent with many of the rules for maintaining good business, but I decided to do so because I was convinced that the product had great potential. And that is precisely the kind of decision that can often push society forward and drive innovation. 3. Not afraid of failure "anything I am willing to try, I am always willing to accept failure." You can't always win, but don't be afraid to make a decision. You cannot shrink from fear of failure, or you will never lose the courage to pursue."In my company, I encourage all managers to instill in them a rule:" Be brave enough to try, and at least learn something from it, even if it fails. "Why? Because if you are afraid of failure, you will never be able to achieve true success and innovation." Steve Jobs, Apple's late founder, did very well. Apple is now known around the world for products such as iphones and MacBook, but few people remember that Apple also had many other products that were flat, such as Apple Lisa, Apple III and PowerMac G4 cube. Great success often takes a great deal of risk, sometimes even a slip of the neck. 4. Forget the opponents "you may hear many times that you can't do this and can't do that because they've never done it before." When someone says that, I feel very happy, because it means that I will be the first person to do it. "In the early 20th century, Horace Rackham, a Horrith Reckham lawyer in Michigan, went to the bank to borrow 5000 of dollars to invest in the new transport industry, the car. At that time, his neighbour's transport industry was just beginning. The bank's president strongly advised Reckham not to make the investment and cautioned him: "The horse always stays here, and the car is only a novelty." "Of course, he didn't know that Reckham's neighbour was actually Henry Ford." These stories are too common. Whenever an idea or product that has the potential to change the world is present, there is always a demeaning presence, warning that the new thing will not last long and may pose a danger to society. When Hootsuite2008 first appeared, most people said social media would be short-lived and there was no way to make money out of it. They also told me that it was impossible to build a global technology company outside Vancouver. Today, however, HootSuite has more than 600 employees worldwide, with more than 10 million users. Of the Fortune 100 companies, 3/4 are using our products. We were constantly asked to move to San Francisco, but we refused. Lately, when someone tells me that I can't do something, it makes me feel like I want to do it. 5. Work hard "Just remember: if you want to win, there is no other way than to work hard." All of my guidelines require you to work hard to succeed. "Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential. However, Schwarzenegger has put forward a very important rule: to be truly successful in your career, you must work harder. In my career, I've met a lot of people who seem to forget or ignore this rule and try to make a success out of small talk. But at the end of the day, this "job" usually pays little dividends. At the beginning of the HootSuite, each of us had to use a lot. For me, it's been working almost non-stop, working all the time every day.20 hours, whether it is to write an email, or to attend a meeting or coding. The good news is that this effort to invest time always pays off. This may not be the end of what you expected, but the end of time has become experience, and for a successful career, it is priceless. 6. Reflect on return "no matter which road you take in life, you must always find time to pay back ... Reaching out to help others bring you satisfaction is something that no other thing can match. "This is probably the most important rule for Schwarzenegger, because in a way, if you follow his top five guidelines, you may have had a great success in your career," he said. At this point, you have to start living a meaningful life and finding ways to give greater rewards to society is critical. This is the most amazing part of human nature, the enduring and universal devotion. Last year, I launched the next big thing program, hoping to help the next generation of gifted entrepreneurs accomplish their goals, no matter how incredible it may sound. It's a small gesture of social return, but I hope it will grow in a few years. For me, that's definitely an important part of success.
