Entrepreneurship myth: Doing things that make you happy is a lie

I'm starting a business because I think it's something that makes me happy. As a web developer, I've been trying to develop something that has been burning in my head for months. It was a good idea and the conditions allowed (personal savings were plentiful), and I don't think anyone can stop me from doing it.

The first day was wonderful. Today, a year later, this feeling has been completely different. It becomes a simple reality: money. I'm not saying that the bank account is empty. But my business is still not profitable-unless the platform is mainstream. Because I'm not a start-up in Silicon Valley, I'm not from Wall Street, I have nothing to do with it, an unprofitable venture is a joke to those investors. Even if you can get investment, investors will certainly not accidentally forced me to make an early profit.

With or without investors, I'm stuck with how to squeeze profits out of the start-up. Recently, we have a new idea, a new idea that can make money, more business value, have good potential, but I am not interested in it. I don't like it. I don't want to do it.

The idea of starting a business in the first place now seems unsustainable. To be able to sustain means everything. If the things you love to do can't make you live and pay your rent, it's only temporary. This is not to say that the temporary things in life are worthless, but that you have to remember that.

Except in extremely rare cases (don't think you are the exception), doing what you like is often unsustainable. Someone always has to pay for it. If you want to do what you love to do, someone is willing to pay you to do something they don't want to do but make a profit. At the end of the day, we all made money and went shopping at the supermarket, where the waiters were doing jobs they didn't like. You may not be in this situation, but this is how the world works.

Sustainability is a necessity, not a desire.

I'm not saying this to fight your morale, or to portray a scene where everyone is dissatisfied with their work. Not at all. When I woke up tonight, I felt a deep desire that my sincere friend would tell me the following advice earlier:

Just do what you hate, not what you like.

Reject things that obviously make your life unhappy, and choose things that you know won't become trouble. Maybe it's not your dream job, but it will keep you mentally and financially stable so you can do what you like at other times. It allows you to have a solid and reliable foundation for your passion.

Don't let your passion turn to "work" and die slowly. Let your work become the foundation of your passion to continue your life.
