Ruian-Mezna (Ryan Matzner) is fueled's strategic director, Chief iphone application developer and mobile design guru. He recently wrote about the nine key questions that startups should ask in the process of interviewing candidates. Here's the full text of his article: as fueled from zero to a company with more than 100 employees, I often need to interview some candidates. They're smart and they'll answer your standard interview questions with their eyes closed. While these candidates ' majors, universities, and goals allow me to understand their basics, what really makes them stand out is the insights they express in their conversations. I haven't been to college myself. A college degree is not the most important part of a resume. The question of who you are is often the first to understand who the person is, how to think about it and what kind of employee they will become. Here are nine questions that will give you a good idea of whether a candidate is right for your company. I wish I had known that when I first interviewed someone. These issues can not only provide a reference for a start-up to interview a candidate, but also give a direction to a job seeker. 1. Can you name some new, less boring apps? We all hope that the application we develop will lead the trend. But if your favorite app is game Flappy Bird and photo-sharing service Instagram, then that's a problem. You're going to tell me about apps I've never heard of. If the candidate knows what I don't know about the app, I'll be happy if it's not too bad. Then I will use this question to test him or her: Tell me how you can improve the application. If the candidate says it's a cool app, his view is bland. 2. What are your complaints about frequently used applications? The best project managers are often the ones who are most likely to complain. If you don't have any complaints about an app, how do you help fueled company build the best apps in the market? Be a perfectionist. To be a better person. 3. What kind of company would you do if you had enough money? I don't want to see your business plan. I just want to hear your thoughts. We buy and sell ideas-people are constantly throwing ideas and concepts at us. And if your entrepreneurial dream is to open a restaurant or shoe store, you probably shouldn't be applying to a technology company. 4. What is the population of New York? We like people with broad knowledge, because you never know what knowledge will come in handy. When it comes to estimating urban population, it doesn't matter if you are millions of. However, if you say that there are 100,000 or 100 million people in New York, then this is very worrying. If we're going to develop a New Yorker app and you don't know how many people are in New York, how can we expect you to create an effective business model? 5. What's the latest news in the tech industry you've heard? You should be able to talk about ChuangThe general situation of companies and technology industries, how technology companies finance, who just got the investment and what you think about it. We like people with entrepreneurial spirit. 6. How does the Internet work? Explain it to me. If you want to get a technical position, you can explain it in detail. As for other positions, if we find that the candidate has a thorough understanding of the Internet, then this can also give you points. 7. What kind of music do you listen to? What kind of movies do you like? There is no standard answer, and you don't have to be interested in these things. But you have to like something, and I want to know why you like it. I would like to take a closer look at a person. 8. How high is your skill in table tennis? Some of the best at playing table tennis is a good thing. Of course, this is not a requirement. 9. What do you usually do on weekends? We don't want to interfere with what you do or to tell you what to do. I'm not interested in the specifics of what you do, I'm just concerned about how you tell what you're doing. People who are creative are often good at storytelling. The ability to convey information verbally and effectively is important. If you don't do anything at the weekend, you're still spending 48 hours without doing anything. Even sleeping late can be a very interesting story. (Tencent Science and technology author: Le Science)
