Mr Yu tells the story of New Oriental Entrepreneurship: character determines fate

Set up their own schools and learning centers in 34 cities in China; in the latest fiscal year, more than 1 million students were enrolled; more than a year ago, the New York Stock Exchange sounded the bell on the market, the newly oriental as China's first education concept unit heated up, the stock price rose strongly. Mr Yu, the head of the new Oriental, which owns 31.18% (44 million shares), has a rising personal wealth and is now the richest Chinese teacher in more than 2 billion.

However, with the company's internal expectations and the tight capital system of Wall Street, Mr Yu, like a fast-moving planet, admits that it is very stressful and tired, and even "regrets to make the new Oriental bigger" and regrets "listing new Oriental".

How many people in the world are trying to make the business bigger and stronger, and why should Mr Yu be so inattentive as to make a private school that opens just 13 students bigger and get a New York listing?

Mr Yu, who walked all the way over, had experienced many setbacks before his success, including college entrance examination, overseas, including some contradictions before the new Oriental IPO, but he did not stop, and finally overtook many people and went to the summit. Personality or other factors?

Mr Yu himself gave the answer: character determines fate!

"It should be said that my personal character has played a big part," Mr Yu said. For example, I have some tenacity in my character, and I do things in a relatively good way. For example, I went to college, the first year did not enter the second year, the second year did not enter the third year of examination, and went abroad for 4 years, of course, finally did not succeed. After doing the new Oriental for 55 years, still doing very seriously, when the teacher in Peking University as a 6.5, this year is the seventh year. Overall, there is a kind of tenacity in character, not to give up casually.

Second, I am more self-motivated. Not to say absolutely to get first place, but oneself have progressive mentality, more good at learning. From small to high school to college, I did not have the top 20 of the class, but still insist on learning, and everyone graduated from university work, I still work while learning. Because of this ambition, imperceptible to the end of the matter.

3rd, I am more patient and tolerant, this point in the new Oriental to see the benefits, because a bunch of people together there are always all kinds of friction, all kinds of struggle, there will be a variety of injuries. If I can afford it, it's not easy to get things to extremes, it's easy to get everyone back together.

Four, I think I have a very principled work. I was relentless in violating the moral principles I thought I should not violate. So I was expelled from New Oriental (teacher). Including in the family life, the husband and wife if quarrel, (noisy) to what extent, which bottom line can not touch, is we all two know.

What is the concept of wealth for more than 2 billion of Mr Yu today?

Mr Yu said: "I think it is appropriate to say a word," there is not necessarily a wealth of life, there is not necessarily a wealth of life, that is, a person's money does not mean that his life is perfect, higher than others. The level of the realm of life and a person's life is not worth, there is no money is not related. A wise man with money will make his life more perfect, richer and more perfect with money, and a man without wisdom will make himself more foolish.

The company has been on the market for a year, and Mr Yu has his own plan for the future: "The first thing is to do the new Oriental well." If this can be done, perhaps I will slowly retreat from the position of President and Chairman, to do a few things. First, 500 to 1000 needy undergraduates are subsidized each year to help them complete their college studies. This is already being done. Second, I want to be able to do a real private university with the money exchanged for shares of listed companies. I hope it is a small humanities elite university which includes economy, law, business, philosophy, religion and so on, and can be made into the first-class private university in China. Third, if you have spare time to read more books, to go around the world to walk more, my share of the relaxed mood to recover. ”
