So what is culture?

A person's ideas and views have never changed, but the company listed, the market value of billions of dollars, we feel that this person is different. In fact, you will find that each of us is willing to listen to the voices of the winners, because we are afraid that we will fail, and we are not particularly tolerant of the culture of failure.

But what does innovation mean? Innovation must mean that it is a particularly high failure rate, failure is inevitable, success is accidental. You see a successful business today, with 100 of them lying behind them, even harder and better companies. But bad luck, failed. Although it also does an innovative thing, but because it failed, many people feel bad. So, in our culture, you really have to do something innovative, because the failure rate is high, you will find that there are such invisible pressure everywhere, which will make many of us are unwilling to do real innovation.

Big businesses can't immune, the same culture, and they have a deep fear of failure. So, no matter what new model, will let small companies first to explore, thunder, small companies do not, big companies will not have any loss. Once a small company is made, large companies follow up immediately, the probability of error is the smallest. This is the so-called "robust competition strategy".

In this case, these big companies are like a child, because the nutrition is very good, also can grow to 1.8 meters, there is an adult's physique and strength, but its mind may still be a seven or eight-year-old child level. They can plausibly say: "I copy these small companies are not illegal, what is wrong?" Are these small companies copied from abroad? So don't expect big companies in our industry to export values like America.

Back in jobs, if someone had read the biography of Steve and read it over and over and over again, you'd find this person a very unpleasant person, a harsh, intolerant, eccentric person. It can be painful for the person to be your colleague, to be your boss, or to live around you. Such seeds fell on Chinese soil and were extinguished by us as early as high school or college.

Although we like to talk about innovation, but once the innovation comes out, we value judgment on it, including me, the minority of intolerance, the need for herd psychology, will intentionally or unintentionally suppress innovation. A person to do a new thing out, just start, we do not understand, better words call him a madman, bad words will scold him is crazy, is a liar. Once he put the original people scolded one thing made, the enterprise to become billions of billions, so people everywhere to him, monument him into a god.

One of the deep-seated problems of our culture, the education we received from childhood, is conformity. We are actually very concerned about the views of others, if there is a special maverick, particularly special, special unconventional, special minority, we will not be too optimistic. If you do what everyone can see, you'll be seen as a reliable and promising person. But unfortunately, we all feel that there is no future for future things.

In China, you want to innovate, you have to endure another kind of distress. In American business schools, disruptive and disruptive innovation is a classic theory that will be schooled by startups, but when I talk about subversion and disruptive innovation, I subconsciously think: Zhou is not a good thing. In the West, it is considered natural for small companies to break up the business model of big companies. So whoever wants to talk about subversion and who wants disruptive innovation will be treated like a troublemaker. Up to now, many people feel that Zhou is a spoiler, troublemakers, every day full of food is all right, always with those big brother fight play. Why do you disregard the interests of the industry? Why do you destroy the harmony of the Internet industry?! Why do you want to destroy the business model of a big company?

So I've spent a lot of time lately encouraging innovation, but I don't think our generation is counting on it. I fought with crocodiles in the jungle and mud of the Chinese Internet, but I hope that the media today, including our education, can work together to gradually change the values of innovation in Chinese culture. If this value can be changed, I believe that there must be a lot of good Chinese young people to form an atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship like the United States, and finally China will have a real Silicon Valley spirit and jobs.

I hope the Chinese Internet will not be like Hong Kong today. Hong Kong has no future for young people, and it is always the seventy or eighty-year-old old man who tells young people how to do business, but the young people of Hong Kong never have any chance. Today, the Internet in China is basically the whenever people, 10 years ago, we were more than 30 years old, now we are 40 years old, a meeting or this group of people. In 10 years, if there is no real innovation in China's Internet, there is no subversion, or a group of 50-year-old old guys continue to talk to you about the way, this is happy for these older men, but for China, after a year, even after 00, it is really a tragedy.
