Like most people, I am also a typical "creative first" type entrepreneur, and I, who is 20, has a good idea now and wants to realize this idea through my own efforts. But I do not have any experience in this area, I do not know how to run a business or "lean startups", not to mention the reputation of the industry. I believe one problem that every entrepreneur at the moment is having: I have only a pretty good idea, and I need to find the right developer and designer to design and develop the product. But if you think you can bring talented people to your team simply because you have a good idea, you're totally mistaken. Now, pure "idea" has no value, the team's execution is the most important.
After countless failures and pains, I finally got the best of both worlds and two designers and a designer. In this article, I would like to share with you the three little experiences that attract talented people that might help you quickly build your own team to focus on the more important things: Spend more time on the marketing of your product , Not just to worry about product development.
Learn some technical knowledge
If you want to sell your product to a non-English-speaking Frenchman at a profit of up to 10,000 U.S. dollars, would you not learn some basic French in order to be close to your client? Similarly, if you want to attract developers And designers into your team, you can also use a similar approach. You have to sell the prospects for starting a business to them and persuade them to work for you to gain even more so that they can waive their free time and the opportunity cost of a high-paying job for a company like Facebook.
I am not saying that you want to become a master of programming or a good designer, just suggest that you go to learn some basic knowledge. To understand how the Internet works, some basic HTML / CSS knowledge, database knowledge, or the meaning of specific colors and shapes, what are the current popular UIs. How to learn? You only need to do some research, ask more questions, go practice it yourself.
The more you learn, the more you understand the developer and the designer, and your ideas will get closer and closer to their ideas. Finally, they will show more respect for you.
When I learned some of their techniques, my biggest achievement was that they were encouraged when the work of engineers and designers was recognized and really used by others. This is an enticing condition that drives and stimulates them to work for you.
Show your determination
Someone once told me that once you start a business, it almost means that you at least give up the next 5 years of personal life. You no longer have time with your friends, replaced by non-stop dealing with your potential customers, continuous learning, continuous online search for information, continuous processing of your product prototype, and more. Many people are not aware of these, but continue to spread their time to school, work, friends above, rather than focus on their own business.
With this you can distinguish between "hardcore" and "fantasy" entrepreneurs. If you want to convince designers and developers to abandon their high-paying jobs and engage in startup plans that you have not even invested in, you have to demonstrate that you are determined to succeed at all. Your team needs to know that you are fully committed to this business plan.
Once you start a business, you are about to sacrifice your own personal life, but it does not matter, you are so excited, because you can work with a cow's team to realize your great product ideas.
3. Get as much theoretical validation as possible
This is the hardest part, but you have to do it because this is the easiest way to convince the best people to work for you. You basically want to minimize the risk that developers and designers can perceive.
Here are some of my suggestions:
Build a product model to investigate whether your potential customer base will use such a product or even pay for your product.
Do some customer questionnaires to find out your product market.
Ask your team a solid advisor who can provide ideas and suggestions for you and your thoughts.
Build a landing site for your product, check the number and information of users logged in, and see how much interest your users can generate.
Outsource some development work and code to make your most basic product out.
In short, do everything to prove that your product can succeed. The most effective way is to think from an investor's perspective: What information and data can make you an investor? Are you excited about the information and data that developers and designers are also considering They will invest their time and energy for you instead of money.
The whole process will not be easy, and no one ever said that starting a business can be easy. Entrepreneurship should not be considered a job, but rather a challenge that requires you to overcome and learn.
