I am powerless high-priced ideas

I'm Jesse, a student who is about to enter second grade at Pomona. This summer, I've been following the hackNY website and doing technical internships at BuzzFeed. In order to promote my learning progress, I decided to write a blog every day, today is the 29th day. You can follow me on Twitter, or visit my blog.

In recent days, I've been thinking of an idea I think is worth a billion, or even 10 billion dollars.

The beginning of the incident was entirely due to a conversation with a stranger on a long subway journey. When the conversation turned to entrepreneurship, he said he had a cool idea: Make a product search engine by region - not a business search engine. The central idea is to give one person the ability to come up with his iPhone and type in an "umbrella" to instantly get to know all the businesses and merchandise nearby that have umbrellas for sale. This is a good idea, but the way I am thinking right now is to make it a truly great idea.

At the moment, most traditional merchants use older stock systems - if any. Of course, some big businesses, such as Wal-Mart and Yaohan, have developed their own better systems, but these companies are, after all, a minority.

My idea is: to develop a beautiful, easy-to-use inventory system for them to use for free.

That's right, free. They do not need to pay for it. And what you get is: access to all of their products and inventory information. Basically, you use great software in exchange for large amounts of data. This is a more economical deal.

Now, think about how we use this data. First, we can build a previously mentioned product search engine from which we can make money to make up for the loss of software development investment. We can allow these businesses to give you money in another way: they will give you money to increase the frequency of their products in the search. Second, you can provide an API that gives you access to this information, and other developers or companies like Google and Yelp need to pay for these APIs. And that's just the beginning of the story. I am convinced that if done correctly, it is no exaggeration to say that this idea will become the Next Big Thing® in the IT world.

Here's what I can think of.

This is a ten-year project.

First, the development of this software requires an experienced programmer to spend decades (hundreds of years?) Of time. Second, you need to develop good relationships with companies - big companies, small businesses, and let them use your software. And only then are those cool things that you can eventually get started.

I think a lot of this, slowly I started to want to understand something.

I'm not able to do such a big thing right now.

This is something you can hardly have the courage to say that you can do it well. I've always felt that I could develop very large software anytime, any age. However, I slowly realized that I needed to learn a lot before I could complete any project in the next 10 years.

Fortunately, I've learned a lot from it.

No sighs

Maybe, now I'm not ready, but give me a few months time, who knows what will happen. In the meantime, I learn as much as I can from as many people as I can, as much as possible, in as many ways as possible, and as fast as possible.
